Grab Design Talks

‘Designing Beyond Interaction’

15 June (Mon) 1610h – 1740h
UTown Stephen Riady Center, Auditorium 2

Grab is Southeast Asia’s leading superapp, providing everyday services across mobility, deliveries, financial services, and more. As an integral part of daily life for millions of people across the region, Grab has shaped how people move, connect, transact, and access essential services.

DIS 2026 attendees will have a unique opportunity to hear directly from four designers at Grab. Across four talks, designers from Grab will share work and case studies from Southeast Asia, looking at how design choices show up in everyday life across the region.

  • Jessica Choi (Lead Product Designer) — sharing a perspective from Grab’s ecommerce space, with a talk on what AI reveals about the hidden complexity of how people actually shop for groceries
  • Daniel Loy (Lead UX Writer) — From Writing to Building, on how UX writing is evolving in an era of AI-assisted creation
  • Adeline Cheung (Illustration Designer) — Mosaic: Beyond Prompting! on how Mosaic has helped to evolve Grab’s Illustration Workflow
  • Mo Khatib (Senior Designer Manager) — Rebot, on how AI is changing user research

Together, the talks reflect on what it means to design interactive systems that are part of everyday journeys, work, and community life across Southeast Asia.

Explore how SwiftUI and Apple’s human-centred design turn practical ideas into intuitive app experiences. This session connects DIS 2026’s “Beyond Interaction” theme with Apple’s design principles, using a ferry schedule planner built with SwiftUI as the design example. Through the Human Interface Guidelines, participants will see how hierarchy, layout and simple interactions can make complex information easier to understand at a glance. In the hands-on segment, they will create a polished digital name card in Swift Playgrounds, shaping it with their own content and design choices, before sharing their work and exploring how the same ideas can continue in Xcode.
